Girona, Flower Time

The old crypts of the Cathedral, a new addition to the Girona Flower Time festival. The next edition of the Girona Flower Time festival will return to a privileged monumental location: the Cathedral crypts. The archaeological remains will be covered with flowers to incorporate this venue into the route around the monumental elements of this floral exhibition, which this year takes place between 10 and 18 May. The inclusion of this space brings added value to the 2014 edition of Girona Flower Time, as it opens up the remains of the old city wall and Carolingian tower, as well as three large silos that formed part of Carolingian Palestrina. In the past, this space was part of the Girona Flower Time exhibition, and its reincorporation will create a visitor circuit that enables the route to be extended into the Cathedral and thereby facilitate the flow of visitors in this monument during the exhibition. This initiative enables the uniformity of the zone's original Romanesque space to be recreated and to integrate some structures that help to understand the historical evolution of the space. Chronologically, the structures involved cover a long period that starts in Roman times and continues through to the medieval era. www.Girona.cat
